How Transformer works: payment protection, the 80/20 split and verified posts

Brands paste their website, pick suggested X creators and send prefilled offers for free; they pay when a creator accepts. The payment is held, the creator posts after payment, and it's released when the post is verified on X with the Paid partnership label. Creators keep 80%. The full flow, with the exact rules.

On Transformer, a brand pastes its website, gets suggested X creators with a reason and a suggested price for each, and sends each one an offer with the price and the ask prefilled. Sending is free: the brand pays only when a creator accepts. The creator posts after the brand has paid, the payment is held, and it's released only after the post is verified live on X with the brand's link and X's Paid partnership label. The creator keeps 80%; Transformer keeps 20%. There's no subscription, no seat fee and no minimum spend.

What does a brand pay?

The brand sets the price of each offer. That price is the whole cost:

Item Example
Brand pays for one X post $250.00
Creator receives (80%) $200.00
Transformer keeps (20%) $50.00

Prices are in US dollars. The fee is the same 20% on every offer, whatever its size.

How does a brand send offers?

  1. Paste your website. Transformer builds a brand profile from it.
  2. See suggested creators on X, matched to your brand, each with why they fit and a suggested price. There's no brief to write.
  3. Open an offer: the price, the ask (what to post about) and your link are prefilled; edit anything you like.
  4. Send to one creator or several at once. Nothing is charged to send.
  5. Pay when a creator accepts. You have 72 hours to pay, from your Transformer balance first, then by card or US bank account on Stripe's checkout. If you don't pay in time, the offer is cancelled and the creator is told.
  6. Track each offer: sent, accepted, paid, posted, verified.

What's in an offer?

How does payment protection work?

The brand pays before the creator posts, and the payment then moves only on a clear event:

  1. Sent: the offer reaches the creator with no charge to the brand. The creator can accept or decline.
  2. Accepted, awaiting payment: the brand has 72 hours to pay. The creator doesn't post yet. If the brand doesn't pay, the offer is cancelled and the creator is told.
  3. Held: the brand has paid and the payment is held. The creator posts within 7 days.
  4. Released: the creator's 80% is credited to their Transformer balance, automatically when the post passes verification, or earlier if the brand chooses to release it.
  5. Paid out: the creator has been paid out.
  6. Frozen: a dispute is open (see below), so nothing moves until it's resolved.

What if the creator declines or doesn't answer? Nothing was charged, so there's nothing to refund. Unanswered offers expire after 7 days by default.

What if you've paid but the creator doesn't post? Nothing happens automatically: open a dispute with the reason "not posted", which freezes the payment, and an admin refunds it to your Transformer balance.

What if something goes wrong after the creator accepts? The brand can't simply cancel an accepted offer. Instead, once the payment is held, either side can open a dispute. That freezes the payment until a Transformer admin reviews it and decides: release to the creator, or return to the brand. Both sides see the dispute and the outcome on the offer.

What does "verified" mean?

When the creator submits their post URL, Transformer checks it against X. A post passes when:

Adding #ad to the text as well is optional; the label is what counts.

How do creators get paid?

Released earnings go into the creator's balance. Creators request payouts by PayPal or USDC (Solana or Base), usually paid within 3 business days. The minimum payout is $10. Once a creator's payouts for the year reach the tax-form threshold, a W-9 (US) or W-8BEN (non-US) is needed before the next payout. See How sponsorship payouts work.

FAQ

How much does Transformer cost?

Nothing up front. The brand sets each offer's price; the creator receives 80% and Transformer keeps 20%. There is no subscription, seat fee or minimum.

Does Transformer hold the payment until the post is verified?

Yes. The brand pays when the creator accepts and before the creator posts, and the payment is held. It's released when the post is verified on X (or earlier if the brand chooses). If the creator declines or the offer expires, nothing was charged.

What happens if there's a dispute?

Either the brand or the creator can open a dispute on an accepted offer while the payment is held. The payment is frozen until a Transformer admin decides to release it to the creator or return it to the brand.

What does Transformer check before releasing payment?

That the post is live on X, from the creator's own account, contains the offer's link and has X's Paid partnership label turned on. #ad in the text is optional.

Do brands need to write a brief?

No. Brands paste their website, get suggested creators with a reason and a suggested price, and send each an offer with the ask prefilled. They can edit the ask or the price before sending.

Can brands send offers to several creators at once?

Yes. Sending is free, to one creator or several. The brand pays for each offer a creator accepts, from its Transformer balance or by card or US bank account through Stripe's checkout, within 72 hours of acceptance.
